Dr. Tarbell set the boys' tongues wagging when he showed this very fine Rope routine during his lecture tour. You will say it's one of the cutest things you have seen in a long time ... and you'll be right, too!

You show THREE pieces of ROPE ... each a DIFFERENT LENGTH. You gather up the ends, and by hanging them in different positions, state that you have now made them LOOK EQUAL IN LENGTH. But pulling them apart ... it becomes obvious (even to a blind man) that you are trying to "kid" them, as they are so obviously unequal. But ... and this is where you "shake" them ... you continue to pull on the ropes, until you "stretch" them and show quite clearly that the pieces are EQUAL IN LENGTH!!! You then return them to their original state ... and THROW THE ROPES OUT FOR CLOSE EXAMINATION. And after the examination by the audience, you can repeat the trick again and again. Easy to do.
