Two cards are selected, and its explained that every card has a 'twin' in the deck (a card of the same colour and value). The first selected card is turned face-up, and when the deck is spread, its twin has turned face up in sympathy. This is repeated with the second selected card.

It's further explained that the longer the selections are out of the deck, the less the twins want to remain. When the deck is now looked through, the two twin cards have vanished.

The spectators are asked to pick up the card box (which has been openly sitting on the table the entire time) and open it to find the twins!
